Vision: To see IDENTITY being restored, and lives transformed so that they can reach their full DESTINY. It is our belief, that in order to spread our WINGS and fly, we first need to grow our ROOTS in the Truth of the Love of the Father, which He has manifested to us in His Son. Only if we know who we truly are in Him, can we fully do, what we were made to do.
Our Mission.
Roots & Wings' mission is to uplift the community by coming alongside a group of children and their families in a holistic approach, encouraging development in all aspects of life according to the Heavenly Father's original design. As "ministers of reconciliation" we work towards restored relationships with God, self, each other, and the rest of creation.

Roots and Wings Ministry NPC is a faith-based community development project and children’s ministry, closely affiliated with YWAM Worcester. We are reaching out to a community in Worcester, Western Cape, South Africa, in which gangsterism and crime, alcohol and drug abuse, a high unemployment and school drop-out rate have an impact on most families in one way or another. Since August 2020, we have been working with a group of 30 - 40 children between the age of two and 18, who are living in the suburbs of Esselenpark and Roodewal. Our core-group is between seven and 16 years old. The children and youth come to our home in Paglande, Worcester, in small groups of four to nine kids per afternoon from Mondays to Thursdays. Our mission is to empower these young people spiritually, emotionally, socially, practically, and cognitively by offering them a safe environment. We want to inspire them to explore, learn, play, be creative, and grow. We hope to uplift the community by coming alongside this group of children and their families in a holistic approach, encouraging development in all aspects of life according to the Heavenly Father’s original design. Meet Our Team.
McAllistair Smith
McAllistair Smith, born and raised in Roodewal, Worcester, South Africa. Once a school-drop-out, drug-addict, and ganster, now on fire for Yeshua! After many years of down spiralling bad to worse, McAllistair's life changed dramatically when he decided to join the Change Maker Program in 2018. During the 6 months in-house programme, he committed his life to Jesus and started over completely. In March 2020, he got married to Britta and shortly after that the vision Roots & Wings Ministry was birthed. McAllistair was awarded the "Change Maker of the Year"Certificate in November 2020.
While being full-time ministry, McAllistair is also studying online for his "bachelor's in ministry" through "Generation Impact Bible College",as well as aquiring practical skills in carpentry. His passion is to encourage and walk alongside people, cheering them on to become the best verison of themselves. He loves being in nature, loves rugby, aand is an active Cross-fitter.
Britta Smith
Britta Smith Wagner is originally from Wermelskirchen, Germany, where she worked as a social pedagogue (Dipl.Soz. Pad.FH Dusseldorf) for the municipal departmentof Youth, Education, and sport. In 2009 she decided to take a break and do a Discipleship Training School in England - during which the Father surprisingly called her intofull-time missions! In 2010 she moved to Worcester, South Africa, where she became a YWAM Worcester staff member, serving with the "Forerunner Ministry Team"as a youth worker and counsellor.
Britta's passion is to live and teach Kingdom principles in a way that people can understand and embrace them, and through taht be empowered to become all that they were.
Britta and McAllistair have great support from their faithful volunteers, Tannie Lottie Buys, who joins the groups every afternoon, and Elzaan van Rooy, who is part of the Wednesday team. As a registered NPC, Roots and Wings Ministry also has a Board of Directors. Besides McAllistair, Britta, and Elzaan, Marizanne McGregor and Carlo Jantjies are serving on the Board as well.
