About Roots & Wings

Roots and Wings, established in 2015 by Lindsy Bolus, offers a life-changing course focused on self-discovery in a way that transforms an individuals’ behaviour to better connect with self and others in their world. Lindsy has over 20 years experience in the field of education and coaching.

So often we attend parenting talks and courses in which we see the value, but as we walk out of the door that information is put into a ‘file’ in the back of our minds. This course is different, as it is an experiential process, where you are invited to observe and reflect on a different set of questions, as well as ‘practise’ a few new simple tools. This, in turn, will lead you to discover a set of answers and insights that are unique to you, your child and your family.

To find out more, join me at one of the introductory seminars taking place during the first term of 2018.

By understanding and noticing how we behave as parents, we can start to practise different ways of ‘being’ that will ignite significant and more meaningful interactions that we have with our children. This in turn will empower them to develop deep and strong connections, or roots, with themselves and will ultimately encourage them to find and spread their unique pair of wings as they journey through life.

About Roots & Wings

“I would highly recommend this course. It is a journey of introspection and discovery that has created they opportunity for me to observe my relationship with my children, the language I use when I speak to them, how I listen to them and how I make use of their love languages. It has given me tools to connect with my children on a deeper level, slowing my life down to consider what really is important to me. It has taught me to be more conscious, to be kind and gentle on myself and to live from the heart.

My home is a different place now – there is less shouting, less stress and more wonderful opportunities to spend one’s energy connecting in a more positive way. This course not only aids the connection between you and your child, but all relationships in one’s life.

An incredibly valuable course that has impacted my whole life!”

“In my 15 years or so in the corporate world I have been extremely fortunate to go on a number of excellent training courses, including training as being a coach.  When I signed up for Roots and Wings I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but Lindsy’s opening line of “focus on what you don’t know, not what you do know” really put me in my place.  I enjoyed every session, and certainly learnt some wonderful new skills, at the same time as having several epiphanies. I didn’t realise I was that bad a listener.

What was really interesting to me was how much similarity there is between skills needed in the work place, and skills needed to raise and interact with your children. I realise that both areas can learn from each other.  Now all I really need is for my daughters to hit the really difficult teen years, and I can put my new found magic skills to practice”.

Paul

“Participating in Lindsy’s Roots and Wings course has been a true gift.

Throughout the course, Lindsy imparted parenting tools and life lessons that have filtered their way into our everyday lives resulting in the most astounding transformation of our family dynamic. It has completely shifted the way that I listen to my children, the way I speak to them; and as a result we engage as a family in a much more meaningful way. While the emphasis of the course is on conscious parenting, the insights gained throughout the eight weeks extend well beyond my role as a mother. I truly feel that my roots have deepened, and my wings have grown.

Roots and Wings is much more than a “course”….it is an ongoing life journey; and one that I am very grateful to have begun.”

Kate

“Roots and Wings gave me an unexpected solution to my parenting challenges, as I learnt the skill of listening. To listen is so much more complex and effective than I ever thought it to be and Lindsy guided a small group of us through some deep-rooted course work with gentleness, creativity and serious direction.

I gained valuable practical skills from the course and it was a real opportunity for me to re- characterize and explore my role as parent.”

Jacqui

“I have learnt how to REALLY listen, engage and talk to my children. I now understand their love languages and this allows me to love them in the way they need to be loved and this naturally brings out the most positive responses. I have learnt how to ground and balance myself which in today’s frenetic world is not easy.

This course has changed many small things in our lives, but they have all had profoundly positive impacts.

I would highly recommend this course to any parent.”

Terri-Ann

“This course has enabled and equipped me to be more aware during my interactions with my children, but also with others that I encounter during my day.

I now feel more grounded and in control of the parenting process, which means I don’t spiral into a shouting or temper session as easily as before. I am equipped to engage in meaningful conversations. Thank you so much, I really appreciate this opportunity.”
